It is not all up to us to make your pet feel at ease when coming in for their grooming appointment!  You, as the pet owner have responsibilities too.  If you are nervous or have anxiety about leaving your pet he can pick up on this and in turn be reluctant or nervous as well.  It is very important that we all have a smooth and pleasant experience for everyone's sake.  One of the most important aspects to the whole process is that you the owner should keep an eye on the dogs coat and try to maintain it in between grooming.  If your pet comes in matted, hair really tangled, and you insist  that they not be shaved down, you have to look at is as how much pain does your dog have to go through to be completely brushed out.  This is one of the most common negativive feelings that pets have when they come in.    They have been repeatedly brushed out with all of the pulling and dematting that they know they are going to be yanked on, and they don't enjoy coming in.

Please try to manage your pets coat and if you cannot, we recommend that you bring them in more often or bring them for a bath and brush out in between hair cuts.  This helps to maintain the coat so that he or she does not have to be shaved down or does not have to be yanked and pulled on to get out all of the tangles.
